A healthy newborn baby is pure and connects with the Tao Field. The Tao Field is made of Tao’s jing qi shen. Some babies cry for many hours a day. Do they get hoarse? Do they lose their voice? Very seldom. Why are babies’ voices so powerful? They are in a pure condition because they are within the Tao Field.

When a baby grows to become a child, the child starts to make requests of the parents. Some children even make demands of their parents. We all know it is important not to spoil a child. Some children cry and cry, always wanting something. Sometimes the parent can no longer tolerate this behavior and gives in to the child’s demands. The child learns very quickly from this. The next time the child wants something and the parent does not give in, the child will cry more and louder. Therefore, we should not spoil a child. To spoil a child is to make a huge mistake for the child’s future.

When children grow to become young adults, they develop sexual desires and many other desires. As adults, they may work for an employer or start their own business. They may get married and raise a family. A human being’s life becomes busier with more responsibilities. There could be more challenges in one’s life. Some people could have many more desires, dreams, attachments, ego, and much more.

Generally speaking, when a person reaches young adulthood, he or she starts to have all kinds of desires and attachments. For some, this can happen at a younger age. The more desires a child, adult, or any person has, the farther they are from the Tao Field.

In the Tao journey, which is the journey of rejuvenation, longevity, and moving toward immortality, the most important practice is to be within the Tao Field. To be within the Tao Field is to follow Tao in every aspect of life.

As adults, people need to make a living. People need to earn income. People want to achieve their dreams. Millions of people dream of becoming rich and famous. We do not want to criticize anyone who has this desire. We do not say that it is wrong for people to have great dreams. However, if you are searching for rejuvenation, longevity, and, most especially, immortality, you have to remove desires for fame, money, power, control, and much more, because these desires will dramatically affect your rejuvenation and longevity journey. There is no way you can reach immortality if you hold these kinds of desires, dreams, and attachments.  

Why is removing these kinds of attachments necessary for the Tao journey? Consider Tao. What is Tao? Tao is the ultimate Source that creates Heaven, Mother Earth, and countless planets, stars, galaxies, and universes. As I have taught before, at the moment a father’s sperm and a mother’s egg join together to form the initial embryo, Tao gives Yuan Shen to the embryo. It does not matter whether a person is selfish or generous. It does not matter whether a person carries huge negative karma from previous lifetimes or was a great saint in past lifetimes. Tao treats everyone equally.

Tao gives equal opportunity to every human being, every planet, every star, every galaxy, and every universe. Tao wishes that everyone and everything would meld with Tao. Tao wishes that everyone and everything could transform their jing qi shen to Tao’s jing qi shen. Unfortunately, humanity does not realize this wisdom. Because we have free will, most of us have desires and attachments and make choices that are not of Tao’s nature. Tao does not want us to go in that direction, but Tao cannot stop us. One of the most important characteristics of Tao is that Tao is The Way. Tao shows us the way, but Tao does not control us, so we have to choose to follow Tao. We must make our own decisions to follow or not to follow Tao.

Tao creates us and nourishes us. When we are successful, Tao never says, “It is because I taught you.” Tao never takes credit. Tao has Da Qian Bei (pronounced dah chyen bay), greatest humility. Tao lets you shine. When we are successful, Tao is happy for us. Tao is a humble, selfless, pure unconditional universal servant.

In chapter eight of Dao De Jing, Lao Zi taught: Highest kindness is just like water. Highest kindness is Tao. Water loves to help wan wu [everyone and everything] and never fights with anyone. Water is willing to stay in the lowest and dirtiest places. Therefore, water is close to Tao. Because of its unconditional service and humility, the nature of water is close to Tao.

Humility is very important for one’s life, including one’s physical journey and one’s Tao journey. Tao creates everyone and everything. Tao nourishes everyone and everything. Tao lets you grow by yourself. When you are successful, Tao never takes any credit. Therefore, in order to align with Tao, we have to purify our souls, hearts, minds, and bodies to a high level.

Tao tells everyone, “I am within you. Use me anytime, anywhere. I will serve you.” Does humanity understand this? Most people do not understand this wisdom. Therefore, in our book Soul Mind Body Science System, Dr. Rulin and I share with humanity that Tao is within us. To connect with Tao within us, we have to purify our souls, hearts, minds, and bodies.
