Chi is vital
energy or life force. Chi moves
through the meridians, the pathways of energy used by Chinese acupuncturists.
The purpose of tai chi is to produce and move chi. Where does chi come
from? It comes from the vibration and radiation of matter. In human beings, chi comes from cellular vibration. Our
cells are constantly vibrating, contracting, and expanding. Energy radiates out
from this cellular vibration. This energy is chi. Similarly, trees and flowers radiate their energy, or chi from the vibration of their matter.
It is no different for an ocean or a mountain; for the sun or the moon; for
every planet, every star, every galaxy, and every universe. Everything radiates
its energy, or its chi, from the
vibration and resulting radiation of its matter.
Everything in the physical world has matter. Matter vibrates
and radiates energy. In turn, energy itself vibrates and radiates. Everything
has a soul. A soul radiates and also vibrates. In my book Soul Wisdom, I introduced Soul Movement. Soul Movement applies soul
vibration, soul radiation, and soul resonation. Your cells are constantly
vibrating, constantly radiating energy. If you are tired or lack vitality and
stamina, it is because your cellular vibration is impaired. To boost your energy,
stamina, vitality, and immunity, use Soul Movement. Soul Movement will direct
the soul of your cells to vibrate normally. Once normal cellular vibration is
restored, chi will be produced
normally and radiate and flow smoothly. This will boost your energy,
stamina, vitality, and immunity.
Soul Movement to boost energy, stamina, vitality, and
immunity can be done in any of four position—lying down, sitting up, standing,
and walking. I recommend incorporating all four positions in a daily practice
to begin each day. Of course, any one of these positions can be practiced alone
at any time.
Lying Down
The day belongs to yang. The beginning of the day, dawn, is
the beginning of yang. Throughout the morning, until noon, the sun continues to
rise, gaining in power and intensity. That’s why the beginning of the morning,
right after you wake up, is a perfect time to do Soul Movement for boosting
energy, stamina, vitality, and immunity. Here’s how to do it. As soon as you
wake up, say hello to your soul; invoke your soul. Do not get up. Remain lying
in bed.

Start to sing “Love, Peace and Harmony” silently. Singing or
chanting aloud when you are lying down can drain your energy. Free yourself so
your movement is not impeded. You may want to do this practice lying down on
top of your bed. Then start to move your arms and legs gently. You can also
play the CD of this Soul Song. Play it just after you wake up and sing along
with it silently. Then, start to move.
Do this Soul Movement for three to five minutes. Because you
just woke up, you are in a very deep yin condition. With this very gentle
movement to start, your body, systems, organs, and cells will resonate and
vibrate more and more, bit by bit. Energy will be produced. Energy flow will be
promoted. Yin will begin to transform into yang.
After five minutes of Soul Movement lying in bed, you are
ready to do Soul Movement in the second position, sitting.
Sitting
If you can, sit up on your bed. You may sit in a full lotus
position, a half lotus position, or simply
with your legs crossed naturally. For greater comfort, sit on a cushion or a pillow. Continue to sing the Soul Song and start to do Soul Movement. Follow nature’s way. You may be able to see in your mind’s eye how your hands and body are going to move. Bend and stretch your back by soul guidance. You may feel or sense how you are to move. At times you may sit up straight. At times you may almost be reclining on your back, side, or face. Just move naturally, according to your soul’s and the divine souls’ guidance.

If you are not able to sit up in bed due to some physical
limitations, sit beside your bed in a chair. Then begin your Soul Movement.
Practice in the sitting position for only about three minutes. Three minutes is
enough to expand, resonate, and vibrate your cells and your being further. Your
movement could be a little faster than it was when you were lying down. Yin
continues to recede and yang continues to expand. On the other hand, your
movement could be even slower than it was. The key is not to have any intention
or expectation. Follow your soul’s guidance. Practicing in the sitting position
will activate your cells more, producing more energy and better energy flow.
After three minutes of sitting Soul Movement, you are ready to do Soul Movement
in the third position, standing.
Standing
Stand up. Start to do Soul Movement in a standing position.
You do not need to move around, but you can bend your back, stretch your arms,
and bend your knees. Follow nature’s way. You can sing the Soul Song Love, Peace and Harmony. You can sing
along with the recording if you wish. Spend another three minutes practicing in
the standing position to further boost your energy, stamina, vitality, and
immunity. After three minutes of standing Soul Movement, you are ready to do
Soul Movement in the fourth position, walking.
Walking
Now you are ready to move and walk. You can walk in your
bedroom. You can walk to your living room. Best of all, walk outside in nature.
Continue to sing the Soul Song as you do Soul Movement. For this step, I
suggest you practice for at least fifteen minutes. If possible, practice for a
half hour or even longer. Fifteen minutes will make a big difference in your
energy, vitality, immunity, and stamina. It will really boost your life force,
fully awakening the yang. If you don’t have fifteen minutes, do what you can.
Even three minutes would be beneficial, but practicing while walking for
fifteen minutes will give you a big boost.

A fundamental principle set forth in The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, the first
authority textbook in traditional Chinese medicine, states, “If chi flows, one is healthy. If chi is blocked, one is sick.” When you
do Soul Movement in sequence (lying down, sitting up, standing, walking), your
energy will develop rapidly. You will feel comfortable, vibrant, fresh, and
energetic. You may actually feel warmth, tingling, vibration, radiation,
expansion, or movement within your body. You may have not only great energy and
vitality, but also great mental clarity—perhaps visual clarity as well. This
Soul Movement practice will greatly benefit every aspect of your day and your
life.
